An auto-reply is the first thing a new customer sees. If it sounds like a robot, they assume the whole business is careless.
The good news is you do not need clever words. You need a short message that answers the obvious question and moves the buyer forward.
What an auto-reply should do
Every auto-reply should do three things. Show that a real business received the message. Answer the most common question, or point to where the answer is. Give a clear next step.
If a message does none of these, it is just noise.

Greeting message
This is what a customer gets when they message you for the first time.
"Welcome to [Business Name]. We sell [what you sell]. Send the item you want and your location, and we will send the price and delivery cost."
Notice it does not only say hello. It asks for the two things you need to quote.
After-hours message
Most buyers do not check the time. They message at 11pm.
"Thank you for your message. We are closed now and we open at 8am. Leave the item you want and your location, and we will reply first thing tomorrow."
Never promise a reply time you cannot keep.
Price enquiry message
Prices take time when an item has many variants.
"Thanks for reaching out. Send the exact size or quantity you want and your area. We will send the correct price and delivery fee."
Delivery message
"Delivery depends on your location. Send your full address and we will confirm the fee and the time you will receive it."
Away or busy message
When you are handling a queue, an away message buys you time.
"Thank you. We are attending to orders now. Send your request and we will get back to you shortly."

The rule that keeps it human
Do not pretend to be human when you are not. Customers forgive honest automation. They do not forgive being tricked.
Always give a way out. A line like "Type AGENT to speak to a person" protects the customer with a genuine problem. That matters, because some issues should never be handled by a bot. A delivery that went wrong, a payment that is missing, or a complaint needs a person. We covered that split in our guide on whether to hire a virtual assistant or automate first.
Auto-replies do not fix a broken order process
An auto-reply answers a message. It does not show your products, take an order, or take payment. If a customer has to wait for a person to send each photo and price, the auto-reply has only bought you a few minutes.

That is the gap we are working on with eSales. Sellers already get a Telegram storefront where buyers can browse, order, and pay, plus order tracking and an opted-in reminder for shoppers who leave a cart. WhatsApp automation is being built on the same customer record, so replies can carry real context instead of a generic line.
